Wednesday: Our Lives Over Profit

As COVID-19 cases spike and we enter a second wave, addressing long-standing health inequities is more urgent than ever.

These disparities left the northwest corner of Toronto disproportionately burdened by COVID during the first wave, where rates were more than 10x higher in some northwest neighbourhoods than in the least-affected areas, which are wealthier, more white, and more central.

Health workers and community members from the northwest region are teaming up next Wednesday, October 21st at 6pm for a webinar on how precarious work is a health hazard and what we can do to protect our communities.

Presented in collaboration with Jane Finch Action Against Poverty, join us to talk about the fight for paid sick days, the dangers of temp work, the struggles of migrant workers, and more. RSVP now to receive the Zoom access link.

The unequal spread of COVID-19 reveals that inequities are deep-seated, but also preventable. The same measures that have kept some of us safer than others should be universally available -- from paid sick days and fair wages, to safe and affordable housing and transportation.

It also means addressing the roots by confronting systemic racism and income inequality.

Demanding better jobs and workplace protections is a matter of both racial justice and public health

Join us next Wednesday to hear from nurses, PSWs, and community members who have seen these inequities first hand.

Demanding change begins with you. Let's put our lives over profit.
