Join the health worker contingent at the Status for All rally on Sept 18

There is a pivotal moment right now, with a major opportunity to win full and permanent immigration status for all.

Prime Minister Trudeau has asked the Immigration Minister to create a “regularization program” to open pathways to citizenship for undocumented people. In addition, Parliament unanimously passed a motion asking the Immigration Minister to create a plan by this Fall to give permanent residency to low-waged migrant workers with temporary or insecure immigration status.

As someone who regularly sees the impact of precarious immigration status on patients' lives, I know that these programs would significantly close gaps in health equity. Patients with precarious immigration status are often pushed into poor work and living conditions and face barriers to accessing healthcare and other critical services. These result in overall worse health outcomes for migrants and their families.

In the next few weeks, the federal government will decide how many people will be included in the regularization program. We have to make sure that no one is left behind.

This is why migrants themselves have called for a day of action on September 18, 2022 to show widespread support for immigration status for ALL migrants.

The health contingent will be meeting at 2:00 pm ET on September 18, 2022 at Christie Pits Park in Toronto.

If you are not in Toronto, please click here to find events near you.

I will be joining the rally in Toronto to send a strong message to the federal government that not a single migrant should be excluded. If you are interested in organizing a health contingent at a local action near you, please reply to this email.

Feel free to wear scrubs, white coats, stethoscopes or clothing that identify you as a healthcare worker.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,

Danyaal
