May 1 @ 11am: Health workers support #Justice4Workers

Health workers: Let's join the decent work movement online on Saturday, May 1 at 11:00am to show our support for #Justice4Workers!
We forced the government to act on paid sick days. It is proof that our organizing is working! But, the newly announced Worker Income Protection Benefit (WIPB) is far from the "best paid sick days plan in North America" that we were promised. Protecting workers' lives has not been a priority for the current government, but it will continue to be a priority for health workers. This May Day, we stand with workers who are rising up with a new set of decent work demands.
It has never been more clear that low-wage, precarious work is a health hazard. Whether it is workers in part-time employment trying to string together multiple jobs in order to make ends meet and accidentally contracting or spreading COVID-19; or workers without paid sick days who can’t stay home from work at the first sign of symptoms because they can’t afford to lose pay; or temp agency workers being sent from one job site to another; or parents sending sick kids to school because they cannot afford to lose a day’s pay to stay home with them – decent work for all must be central in curbing COVID-19 now and recovering from it.
Come to the online rally to hear from workers about all of the demands. Invite your friends and co-workers to register, too. With music, speeches and the chance to take action, let's show that health workers support justice for workers! This event is hosted by the Justice For Workers campaign (formerly, Fight for $15 & Fairness), a key partner of the Decent Work and Health Network. The main event page is here.
Decent work for all is urgent and overdue. After the event, show that health workers support the new Justice for Workers platform by taking action with us. More details about how to take action as part of our online campaign here.
