Why are health workers marching for #StatusForAll on March 19?

Right now, some politicians and the media are blaming migrants and refugees for the crisis in healthcare. But health workers know that the healthcare crisis is due to years of underfunding and not putting preventive measures in place, such as permanent paid sick days.
Anti-migrant, anti-refugee sentiments detract from the real problem at hand. In fact, delays in care due to lack of immigration status can lead to complications that often require more expensive and resource-intensive care.
On March 19, the weekend of the International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination, let’s show up for ALL patients and health workers by resisting the racist and xenophobic narratives being projected in the media and by politicians. Health for all means status for all!
#RegularizeNow
As a result of mass mobilization, including support from health organizations, we are close to a regularization program for the 500,000 undocumented migrants in the country. But we need to make sure that the program is an inclusive and comprehensive one, that leaves no one behind.
There are only 10 weeks left in this parliamentary session and Prime Minister Trudeau is delaying action. That's why it's so important to show our support for permanent immigration status for all, without exclusions or delays.
This Sunday, March 19, will you join migrants across the country to tell the Prime Minister to deliver on his promise?
