On September 27th, 2023 five First Nations from Northern Ontario will come to Toronto to lead a march calling on Premier Ford to respect Indigenous rights and end unwanted mining activity on their lands. They have formed a historic alliance to protect their lands and waters -- their sources of life – from prospectors and mining companies who have staked thousands of new claims on their territories since Ford came to power.

As healthcare providers we see the harms wrought by generations of colonialism in our practice, and firmly understand that the broader struggle for a healthy and just society is inextricably linked with decolonization, and Indigenous sovereignty over Indigenous lives and land. We cannot sit back and watch as extractivist and exploitative industries encroach on Indigenous lands. We demand that our governments be held to account when they so clearly favour the interests of profit-seeking corporations over people. Our vision for a just transition includes respect for Indigenous peoples and their land, decent green jobs, and a society where no one is left behind.

Join us at this rally to support the historic Land Alliance in their struggle!

When: 12pm, September 27th
